STM to Develop Computer Aided Training Software for the Turkish General Staff
 MEFORS

The contract for the “Computer Aided Training” (BTE) that will be developed under the Message Formatting System (MEFORS) Project was signed between the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) and STM on September 25, 2009.

The training software, which will include formatted message drafting, sending and receiving functions for the personnel of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) will enable computer aided MEFORS training, which to date has been delivered through classical methods.

Remote access to the “computer aided training” will be available throughout the year from the official web site of the Turkish General Staff. The remote access method will save time and resources both for the units and for the personnel of the General Staff.

The software for computer-aided training, which is the most recognized training method of today, will be developed and offered to users for the first time by STM.

The MEFORS Main Contract, continuing since October 1999, keeps on expanding with this eighth additional contract.

STM has been concentrating on the area of formatted messages for the last 10 years, and has been involved in many projects on formatted messages. In these projects, STM worked mainly on developing formatted message identifications and producing solutions with regard to formatted message based data exchange system applications. Products created as the output of projects delivered by STM are currently being used by the Turkish General Staff.

MEFORS 1-2-3 projects were signed in addition to the TAF CCIS project signed in 1996 with STM and including test bed building for building the TAF strategic level command control system, information exchange needs assessment and hardware/software documents identification works.

Within the scope of the projects, the reports under the  GENKURRAP, SILKUVRAP, Army Command (KKK) and Navy Command (Dz. K.K.) used within the TAF CCIS were transformed into formatted messages using the IRIS software localized by STM as per  NATO ADatP-3 Change-4 procedures, and fed into the databases, after which message exchange on electronic medium was ensured.
