At the “Information Exchange and Technology Platform Seminar” held on December 26, 2009 at STM, a presentation was made by Gökhan BAKAN from the Certification Department.
The presentation focused on vibration measurement flight tests carried out at the initial phases of projects, modernization projects in particular, so as to identify compliance to vibration conditions with regard to the platform on which the COTS (ready-made merchandize) are to be integrated; the presentation also focused on MIL-A-8870 and DEF-STAN 00970 and similar guideline documents, which define the phases that should be included in these tests.
In the presentation, BAKAN explained that the performance and endurance compatibility of the equipment to be integrated is evaluated based on data obtained from vibration measurement flight tests, and added that the data obtained is also used in design & development of these equipment and in the fatigue analysis of some aircraft structural parts. BAKAN emphasized that as specified in related guidelines, the tests should include the ground and flight conditions where vibration levels are at their highest for all mission profiles included in the technical specifications of the aircraft, and explained the relevant measurement and instrumentation requirements as well as how data should be collected and analyzed.
The seminars have been organized on the Saturday of the last week of every month for the last two years, with the participation of employees from the relevant departments of the company.
