A training seminar on “R&D, Innovation and Project Management for Defence Industry SMEs” was delivered by the OSTIM Consultancy and Training Centre on December 26, 2009 with the contributions of Defence Industry Manufacturers Association (SASAD) and Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik A.S. (STM).
At the training seminar, participated by managers, authorized engineers and project managers from companies in the Defence Sub-industry cluster, Isil KOLAGASIOGLU from STM’s Systems Department delivered training on ‘project management’.
Stressing that the main project management activities carried out at STM are in conformity with CMMI Maturity Level 3 processes, KOLAGASIOGLU shared with participants her experiences in a variety of projects in which she has worked as project manager at the company.
Explaining the fundamental concepts and phases of project management, Isil KOLAGASIOGLU said that a successful project is a project where the described tasks are completed and delivered within the expected timeframe at the estimated costs, meeting the specified qualifications and quality.
Emphasizing that in project management, as in all other disciplines, experience is as essential as technical capability, KOLAGASIOGLU said that the work carried out to plan and control the activities required for the project must be in accordance with recognized project management disciplines.
Believing that R&D, Innovation and Project Management, three of the qualitative characteristics of the Turkish Defence Industry, should be carried further for SMEs, STM cooperates with more than 80 subcontractors and contributes to development in the sector’s ecosystem.
