Test and Training Vessel Ufuk (A-591), For Which STM is the Prime Contractor, Launched at a Ceremony Attended by the President

The Test and Training Vessel Ufuk (A-591) program, in which STM is proud to be the prime contractor, was launched at a ceremony held on February 9, 2019.

The ceremony was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Hulusi Akar, Minister of Turkish National Defence; Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, President of Defence Industries; Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology; General Yaşar Güler, Admiral Adnan Özbal, Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces; General Musa Avsever, Commander of the First Army; Prof. Dr. İhsan Kaya, Chairman of the Board of STM; and Murat İkinci, General Manager of STM, among other guests.

The Test and Training Ship was built by STM as its prime contractor at the Istanbul Shipyard, and will be equipped with ASELSAN systems. The first weld was made on May 2, 2017 and the launch took place on February 9, 2019. Final delivery of the Test and Training Ship is scheduled for July 2020.

About the Test and Training Ship Ufuk (A-591):
Constructed using indigenous resources and capabilities, the A-591 is 99.5 meters in length with a beam of 14.4 meters, 2,400 tons displacement and a 3.6-meter draft. The vessel also has a helicopter deck that is suitable  for a 10-ton helicopter.
