Vision is one of the most crucial sources of information for living beings. One of the essential functions that ensures survival is the ability to extract meaningful information by combining visual perception with intelligence.
At STM, we draw inspiration from nature to transform visual data from various imaging sources into actionable intelligence through advanced engineering solutions. The areas of expertise within STM’s Computer Vision Group include Computer Vision, Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
STM develops algorithmic and software solutions for processing all types of imagery obtained from both stationary and moving cameras, particularly in projects such as Kargu, Alpagu, Togan, and Boyga. Additionally, the team conducts research in areas where value can be added through innovative applications. One of the most significant R&D initiatives in this field is the KERKES Project. Within the scope of the KERKES Project, key advancements involve the correlation of imagery captured by fixed-wing and rotary-wing UAVs with satellite images and orthophoto imagery to enable navigation in GPS-denied environments.
Moreover, as part of efforts to develop alternative solutions for navigation without GPS, STM is also working onlandmark recognition methods. These research activities leverage not only traditional computer vision techniques but also deep learning-based approaches to enhance system capabilities.
STM’s Computer Vision Group continues to push the boundaries of technology, integrating cutting-edge techniques into defense systems to enhance situational awareness, precision, and operational effectiveness.
