The kamikaze FPV drone KarguFPV, developed by STM, achieved a direct hit on an armored vehicle during its first live munitions detonation test with an armor-piercing warhead. With this achievement, a domestically produced FPV drone equipped with a military standard fuse integrated armor-piercing munition has been successfully tested for the first time in Türkiye.
STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş., one of the leading engineering companies in the Turkish defence industry, continues to deliver effective and low-cost solutions against asymmetric threats in modern combat environments. The KarguFPV, which had previously drawn attention with its autonomy-supported precision strike capability and anti-personnel warhead, has now gained the ability to neutralize armored vehicles and fortified targets through the integration of an armor-piercing warhead.
During its inaugural live munitions detonation trial with the armor-piercing warhead, KarguFPV struck the designated armored target with pinpoint accuracy on the first shot. Observers confirmed that the system successfully penetrated the target’s armor.
Güleryüz: Advanced Engineering, Effective Results
STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stressed that the company delivers reliable, agile and high-effect solutions to the field in short order:
“Accordingly, by integrating our autonomy, image-processing and artificial intelligence capabilities with FPV systems, we are developing technologies that will shape the battlefield of the future. We have started employing an armor-piercing warhead on the KarguFPV, which we outfit with various payloads. Thus, we have successfully tested, for the first time in Türkiye, a domestically produced FPV carrying an armor-piercing munition. As STM, we will continue to provide adaptive and indigenous solutions suited to the evolving nature of warfare.”
Advanced Security, Autonomy and Precision Strike
The KarguFpv Kamikaze Drone, which can serve as a deterrent force against dynamic threats in asymmetric warfare environments, is directed towards enemy elements with its operator-controlled real-time vision system and neutralises its target with anti-personnel and armour-piercing warhead. Its high manoeuvrability, effective day and night operation capability, and low radar cross-sectional area ensures the efficacy of STM’s FPV Drone against fixed or moving targets.
KarguFPV is the only FPV drone solution in Türkiye equipped with an advanced military safety fuze compliant with MIL-STD-331, ensuring full safety during transport and while on mission. The FPV Drone is equipped with an integrated day and night camera and can operate without being compromised by such electronic warfare effects as jamming or blinding. The platform offers automatic detonation at an adjustable distance through its distance fuze sensor, while its autonomous terminal diving capability, supported by image processing, marks the target and ensures a precise hit.
The FPV-configured KarguFPV is fully compatible with the same munitions and fuze systems used by the tactical KARGU family, enabling existing KARGU munitions in service to be employed within the FPV concept. STM-designed armor-piercing and anti-personnel munitions, fitted with military-grade fuzes, can be used interchangeably on both Turkey’s first indigenous kamikaze UAV, KARGU, and on KarguFPV without any modification.
