Jointly developed by STM and MAKEL Teknoloji, Türkiye’s first indigenous and national Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Detection and Identification System offers an advanced defense solution against invisible threats for naval surface platforms.
Leveraging its state-of-the-art sensors and proprietary software architecture, the system continuously monitors and analyzes chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats in real-time, providing early warnings to ship personnel and enabling timely implementation of necessary countermeasures.
The system comprises five key components:
The CBRN Detection and Identification System is capable of operating 24/7 under challenging environmental conditions and can simultaneously detect various chemical substances, biological entities, and toxic industrial materials. It is designed to identify and sample threats in liquid, solid, or gas forms, offering an extensive detection range and continuous data recording capabilities.
Threats detected by the CBRN system can be monitored both through the system’s main console and via the ship’s Integrated Platform Control and Monitoring System (IPCMS).
Since 2015, the system has been successfully integrated into naval platforms such as the MİLGEM Ada-Class Corvettes (TCG BURGAZADA, TCG KINALIADA), TCG UFUK, TCG İSTANBUL, and TCG BAYRAKTAR. Additionally, it is actively deployed on more than ten platforms in STM’s export projects, including the Pakistan MILGEM Corvettes.
Compliant with NATO standards, the system holds international certifications and stands as a significant achievement in Türkiye’s efforts toward defense technology independence.
